Laptop Repairs - good honest advice is hard to find, but why?

Small High Street Shops: These days all PC shops have bunged a ‘Laptop Repairs’ sign in the window. It takes a lot more than a sign in the window to become a top rate laptop repair centre. PC engineers are used to just changing boards in desktops and towers. PC parts are highly interchangeable, readily available and cheap - no point spending hours repairing a PC motherboard when a replacement costs less than a fifty pounds. Laptops are very different - every model is unique and very few parts are interchangeable, so a component level repair maybe the only option to save your laptop. A lot of these small local high street PC shops don’t have the skills and tools required to perform reliable laptop repairs.
